Before becoming a national political figure, Harp worked in business and described herself as a self-employed entrepreneur. Her life changed significantly after she was diagnosed with Stage 2 bone cancer. Harp has said that she went through unsuccessful chemotherapy treatments before eventually receiving an immunotherapy drug on an off-label basis.

Right to Try and Political Career

Harp emerged as a public supporter of Trump after crediting his administration's "Right to Try" law with helping save her life. The federal law, signed by Trump in 2018, was designed to give certain seriously ill patients access to experimental medications that had not received full FDA approval.

Harp's account attracted attention after she appeared on "Fox & Friends" in 2019. At the time, the show's regular hosts included Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade. Harp went on to work for One America News Network, commonly known as OAN, where she served as a television host. She remained closely aligned with Trump and left the network to join his political operation in 2022.

During Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, Harp became a near-constant presence around the former president. Because Trump has long preferred reading printed material rather than consuming everything from a screen, Harp carried a portable printer and battery pack while traveling with him. Her position became considerably more influential than the nickname suggested. Harp helped prepare and publish material on Trump's Truth Social account, traveled with him, and became one of the aides with the most direct access to him.

Following Trump's return to office in January 2025, Harp was appointed Special Assistant to the President and Executive Assistant to the President. She joined a second-term White House that included Vice President J.D. Vance and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
