Early Life and Education

Gabby Barrett was born on March 5, 2000, in Munhall, Pennsylvania to Pam and Blaise. She has seven siblings. After attending Serra Catholic High School in McKeesport, Barrett transferred to online education at the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. She was a talented singer growing up, and in 2014 won the Kean Quest Talent Search.

American Idol

In late 2017, Barrett auditioned in Nashville, Tennessee for the 16th season of "American Idol." She made it onto the show, which aired in 2018, and advanced all the way to the final. Barrett's songs in the final were "Rivers Deep," "Little Red Wagon," and "Don't Stop Believin'." Ultimately, she came in third place, with Caleb Lee Hutchinson in second and Maddie Poppe as the winner of the season.

Singles and Albums

In 2019, Barrett self-released her debut single, "I Hope." The single drew the attention of various record labels, leading Barrett to sign with Warner Music Nashville, which subsequently issued an official release of the single. "I Hope" went on to top the Hot Country Songs chart. An updated version of the song, featuring Charlie Puth, was released in the spring of 2020; it made it to number three on the Billboard Hot 100. Barrett's next single was "The Good Ones," which came out in mid-2020. Another hit for the artist, it topped the Hot Country Songs chart and peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. Barrett's first two singles were included on her 2020 debut album "Goldmine," which reached number four on the Top Country Albums chart and number 27 on the Billboard 200. "Goldmine" went on to win Favorite Country Album at the American Music Awards, while "The Good Ones" won Favorite Country Song.

In mid-2023, Barrett released the song "Glory Days," the lead single from her second album, "Chapter & Verse." The album was released in early 2024 and reached number 39 on the Top Country Albums chart. Its other singles included "Dance Like No One's Watching" and "Jesus on a Train." Barrett released her third album, "Carols and Candlelight," in November of 2024. A Christmas album, it features covers of such classic and traditional tunes as "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "The First Noel," "Go Tell it on the Mountain," and "O Holy Night."

Acting Career

In 2025, Barrett made her acting debut in the musical psychological thriller "Hurry Up Tomorrow," directed by Trey Edward Shults and starring Abel Tesfaye, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan. The film is a companion piece to Tesfaye's album of the same name.

Personal Life

In 2019, Barrett married her fellow "American Idol" competitor Cade Foehner. They had their first child, a daughter named Baylah, in early 2021. Their second child, born in late 2022, was a son named Augustine. Barrett and Foehner had a third child, a daughter named Ivy, in early 2024.
