Chuu is a South Korean singer, television and web personality, and actress who has a net worth of $4 million. Chuu rose to fame in late 2017 as a member of the girl group Loona, and the next year she became a member of the group's third sub-unit, Loona yyxy. She has also released music as a solo artist and appeared on various television shows and web series, including the reality shows "Steel Troops" and "Mr. Trot" and the romantic comedy series "My Girlfriend is the Man!"

Early Life and Education

Chuu, whose real name is Kim Ji-woo, was born on October 20, 1999 in Cheongju, South Korea. She has two younger brothers. Chuu was educated at Saet-byul Elementary School, San-nam Middle School, and Hanlim Multi Art School. She graduated from the last institution in early 2018 alongside her fellow Loona member Kim Lip.

Loona and Loona yyxy

In late 2017, Chuu became the tenth member of the girl group Loona, which was created by Blockberry Creative. She introduced herself by releasing her self-titled single album, which peaked at number eight on the Gaon Album Chart and launched the single "Heart Attack." In 2018, Chuu became a member of Loona's third sub-unit, Loona yyxy, alongside Yves, Go Won, and HyeJu. That group went on to release its debut EP, "Beauty & the Beast," which reached number four on the Gaon Album Chart. Later in 2018, Chuu made her debut with the full Loona group on the EP "[+ +]," which peaked at number two on the Gaon Album Chart. That was followed by the EPs "[#]" and "(12:00)" in 2020, "(&)" in 2021, and "Flip That" in 2022. In late 2022, Chuu was expelled from Loona on account of alleged abuse of power.

Solo Music Career

In mid-2022, Chuu collaborated with rapper B.I on the single "Lullaby." Later that year, she released two cover singles, "One and a Half" and "Confession." The latter was the theme song to the science-fiction romantic drama film "Ditto." Chuu released her debut EP as a solo artist, "Howl," in 2023; it made it to number three on the Circle Album Chart. Her second solo EP, "Strawberry Rush," came out in 2024. That was followed by "Only Cry in the Rain" in 2025. Chuu went on to release her debut studio album, "XO, My Cyberlove," in early 2026. It reached number eight on the Circle Album Chart.

Television Career

Chuu began appearing regularly on television in 2020. That year, she competed on the singing competition show "King of Mask Singer" and the reality show "Running Girls." The next year, Chuu became a regular panelist on the military reality show "Steel Troops" and appeared in a few episodes of the reality documentary show "Law of the Jungle." She also appeared in a number of commercials, including ones for the Samsung Galaxy Store, Chicken Maru, and BC Card. In 2022, Chuu served as a host on "Stage Up" and "The Dreamers," and she began appearing on the talent show "Mr. Trot" as a master. After a break from television, she returned in 2025 to co-host "When Our Kids Fall in Love" and to star in the romantic comedy series "My Girlfriend is the Man!," based on the webtoon of the same name. Chuu also contributed the song "Star" to the "My Girlfriend is the Man!" original soundtrack.

Web Series

In 2019, Chuu starred in the web series "Dating Class," playing the character Han Eun-sol. That summer, she co-hosted the second season of "Insane Quiz Show" with MJ and Ilhoon. In 2020, Chuu began hosting her own YouTube show called "Chuu Can Do It," on which she promotes environmentalism. A couple of years later, she co-hosted "Terrace On" with Leeteuk and Lee Won-il and "If you like it, it will ring!" with Jinyoung, Lee Eun-ji, and Hong Seok-cheon. In 2023, Chuu joined Song Yuqi and Tsuki as a cast member in "Star of Star Girls."
