Early Life

Moneybagg Yo, whose real name is DeMario DeWayne White Jr., was born on September 3, 1991 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was raised by a single mother alongside his two younger siblings. White had a tough childhood due to his mother's financial privations and struggle to raise her kids alone. In response, he often ran away, finding refuge in street gangs. As a teenager, White attended Mitchell High School; it was there that he gained the stage name Moneybagg Yo. He ended up dropping out in the 12^th grade in order to pursue a career to support his family. However, this proved difficult, leading White to turn to drug-dealing to survive. Eventually, he found his way out and began honing his skills as a rapper.

Start of Music Career

In 2011, Moneybagg Yo released his first official single, "F U Pay Me." He went on to release a number of mixtapes over the subsequent years, including "From da Block 2 da Booth," "Relentless," "ELO (Everybody Lives On)," "All Gas No Brakes," and "Heartless." These mixtapes featured appearances by such rappers as Yo Gotti, Quavo, Young Dolph, and Lil Durk.

Moneybagg Yo released his debut studio album, "Reset," in late 2018. Including guest appearances by Kodak Black, YG, J. Among his many notable collaborations, Moneybagg Yo collaborated with YoungBoy Never Broke Again on the 2017 mixtape "Fed Baby's." A few years later, he collaborated with Blac Youngsta on the mixtape "Code Red." The lead single from that mixtape, "Said Sum," became Moneybagg Yo's highest-charting song as a lead artist to date. Meanwhile, as a featured artist, he has appeared on tracks by such rappers as Lil Baby, Calboy, Doe Boy, EST Gee, Belly, Tyga, Lil Jairmy, Meek Mill, and Polo G. Legal Issues

Having grown up poor and in close association with street gangs, Moneybagg Yo has had multiple run-ins with the law. During a family picnic in the summer of 2011, he got into an altercation that resulted in him being shot at. After escaping unscathed, he was arrested. Later, in 2016, Moneybagg Yo was arrested at a CD release party on drug and weapon charges, alongside 27 others, some of whom were known gang members. More trouble arose in 2020 when, at his 29^th birthday celebration in Las Vegas, shots were fired outside the location of the party.

Feuds

Moneybagg Yo has also been engaged in some turbulent feuds with other rappers, including his former collaborator YoungBoy Never Broke Again. His most intense feud has been with Stupid Duke, a rivalry that began with a violent altercation outside a Memphis nightclub in 2010. The two traded various diss tracks over the years, and were allegedly involved in criminal activities with their respective crews. Moneybagg Yo also feuded with Young Dolph, who was shot and killed in late 2021. Conspiracy theories posited that he was in fact the murderer, but this has been debunked.

Personal Life

Moneybagg Yo has been in several relationships, resulting in eight children: four sons and four daughters. He is known for spending exorbitant amounts of money on his kids, often gifting them with luxury items.

Moneybagg Yo previously dated Megan Thee Stallion. In January 2020 he began dating model Ari Fletcher. In July 2020 he reportedly bought Ari a Lamborghini as a birthday present.

After living most of his life in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, Moneybagg Yo relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2022 to get away from the criminal threats surrounding him in Memphis. He was partly inspired to move due to the murder of his friend and fellow rapper Big Nuskie.

In 2018, Moneybagg Yo converted to Islam. As an effect of this conversion, he stopped drinking lean. Moneybagg Yo reportedly prays five times a day.
