Early Life

Don Toliver was born Caleb Zackery Toliver on June 12, 1994, in Houston, Texas. He grew up immersed in the city's distinctive hip-hop culture, which had been shaped by artists and labels including DJ Screw, Swishahouse, and Rap-A-Lot Records.

Toliver began experimenting with music when he was young. He has recalled recording an early song using a PlayStation microphone when he was around 16 years old. He eventually began releasing music independently and developing the high-pitched, melodic vocal style that would become his trademark.

In 2017, Toliver began attracting wider attention with releases including "Diva" and "I Gotta." The following year proved transformative.

"Donny Womack" and Cactus Jack

Toliver released his debut mixtape, "Donny Womack," in August 2018. The title was a reference to soul singer Bobby Womack and reflected Toliver's mixture of singing and rapping.

Just one day later, Travis Scott released "Astroworld." Toliver appeared on the track "Can't Say," introducing him to a massive international audience despite being relatively unknown at the time.

Scott subsequently signed Toliver to his Cactus Jack Records imprint in a joint arrangement with Atlantic Records.

"Love Sick" and "Hardstone Psycho"

Toliver shifted direction again with 2024's "Hardstone Psycho," adopting a harder aesthetic influenced by motorcycles and biker culture. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 and became his first #1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts.

Its release was accompanied by "Hardstone," an immersive Fortnite experience, reflecting Toliver's interest in combining music with visual worlds, fashion, and gaming.

"Octane"

Toliver reached a new commercial peak with "Octane," released in January 2026.

The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 162,000 equivalent album units, marking Toliver's first solo #1 album. It generated more than 400 million global streams during its first week and surpassed one billion Spotify streams within its first several months.

Songs from the project included "Tiramisu," "E85," and "Body." Toliver also took a larger role in production, co-producing material himself.

The album's success established Toliver as an arena-level headliner rather than simply a successful streaming artist.

Touring and Career Earnings

Touring has become one of Toliver's most significant sources of income.

His "Psycho Tour," which stretched across North America and Europe, grossed approximately $24.8 million from 43 reported performances during the 2025 Billboard touring period and sold more than 330,000 tickets.
