Early Life

Stavros Emmanuel Halkias was born on February 11, 1989, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was raised in the city's Greektown neighborhood by Greek immigrant parents. His mother worked as a waitress at a Greek restaurant, while his father worked as a contractor.

Halkias attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, where he played football. He later enrolled at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, studying political science and media studies while pursuing a minor in writing.

He began attempting stand-up during his freshman year and organized a monthly comedy showcase at UMBC. Halkias performed throughout Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia and was named Baltimore's New Comedian of the Year in 2012.

Early Comedy Career

After building experience in the Baltimore and Washington comedy scenes, Halkias moved to New York City. He performed at clubs and independent venues while appearing on podcasts, radio programs, and digital comedy projects.

His early television work included "Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring," "Life Fails," and "Sex Fails." He also wrote and performed material for Adult Swim, IFC, and the MSG Network program "People Talking Sports and Other Stuff."

That same year, Halkias starred as Chip Harper in "Let's Start a Cult," which he co-wrote with director Ben Kitnick and Wes Haney. The comedy follows a failed cult member attempting to reunite his former group.

Halkias played police officer Casey Boyd in the 2025 dark comedy "Bugonia," directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. He was also cast as restaurant worker Dimitri in the A24 film "Tony," about a formative summer in the life of Anthony Bourdain. The film's cast includes Dominic Sessa and Antonio Banderas.
