Early Life

Hannu-Pekka Parviainen was born on August 18, 1981, in Seinäjoki, Finland. He became interested in skiing as a young child and received his first snowboard during the early 1990s.

Snowboarding introduced Parviainen to Jukka Hildén, Jarno Laasala, and Jarppi Leppälä. The four friends spent their teenage years snowboarding, skateboarding, riding mountain bikes, and creating physical challenges around Seinäjoki.

Laasala began filming their activities with a video camera. The footage gradually evolved from conventional action-sports videos into pranks, staged accidents, property destruction, and dangerous stunts. Jarno edited the material into VHS tapes that the group sold and circulated locally.

Parviainen also pursued an education outside entertainment. He studied to become a teacher at the University of Joensuu while the Dudesons were beginning their television career. He later worked for several years as an elementary school classroom teacher and taught mathematics, physics, and chemistry to older students.

The Dudesons

The group received its television breakthrough after Laasala began working as an editor for the Finnish cable network MoonTV. Their first program, "Maailmankiertue," premiered in 2001 and became one of the channel's most popular shows.

HP became known as one of the group's most athletic and fearless performers. He participated in stunts involving snowboards, motorcycles, cars, fire, homemade ramps, freezing water, and large falls. The success of the original Finnish series led the group to produce English-language episodes for international audiences. "The Dudesons" eventually aired in numerous countries and reached American television through Spike TV.

International Success

In 2006, Parviainen starred in and helped write "The Dudesons Movie." The film followed the friends at their ranch and featured appearances by Steve-O, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, and other figures associated with "Jackass."

The Dudesons' relationship with the "Jackass" team led to appearances on "Viva La Bam," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," and other American programs. HP later appeared with the group in "Jackass 3D" and "Jackass 3.5."
