Karolina Kurkova was born February 28, 1984 in Děčín, Czechoslovakia. Her father was a Czech professional basketball player. Karolina started modeling at the age of 15. She started out doing runway appearances and magazine print ads in eastern Europe. She eventually landed a breakthrough campaign in the American version of Vogue magazine when she was just 17 years old.
Career
Soon after, Karolina moved to New York City to pursue modeling full time. Not long after moving to the United States she landed the cover of Vogue.
