Jonathon Brandmeier was born in 1956 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and began appearing on local radio stations by 1973. By the time he was 18, Brandmeier was on air waves in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and soon moved to several towns over to Appleton as a DJ before picking up a job in San Jose, California. By 1980, Brandmeier was working radio in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a year later, he was a morning DJ in Phoenix where he created fun, silly content for the a.m. commute. His first album, "Just Havin' Fun", released in 1982, and a year later, he was hired on for mornings in Chicago with WLUP. He is the man behind hit local songs, "Hey Der Milwaukee Polka", "The Moo-Moo Song", and "We're All Crazy in Chicago".
He remained with WLUP for nearly 15 years until a management change forced him to a different radio station (WCKG )until 2001. Brandmeier took a hiatus from radio until he returned to KCBS and later WLUP in the mid-2000s. Brandmeier was part of a local band, The Leisure Suits, who played around the Windy City. In 2011, he joined WGN Radio. Brandmeier has released five albums between 1982 and 2008, including "Almost Live", "Brandmeier", and "Larger Than Live".
