Cherry spent most of his hockey career playing in the American Hockey League. He did go on to play one game for the Boston Bruins, before coaching them for five seasons. He has been featured on the Sportsnet Radio Network and even created the Rock'em Sock'em Hockey video series. He was voted as #7 on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's list of Greatest Canadians.
