Sam Shepard net worth and salary: Sam Shepard was an American actor, playwright, and television and film director who had a net worth of $10 million. Sam Shepard was born in Fort Sheridan, Illinois in 1943 and grew up in Duarte, California where he worked on a ranch as a teenager. He is best known for his Academy Award nominated performance as Chuck Yeager in the 1983 film "The Right Stuff".
Shepard moved to New York City after high school and immediately immersed himself in the theater scene. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979 for his play "Buried Child". Shepard's earliest acting success dates back to 1978 when he was cast as the handsome land baron in Terrence Malick's "Days of Heaven". Shephard would go on to appear in a number of films including "Frances", "Raggedy Man", "Paris, Texas", "Crimes of the Heart", "Steel Magnolias", "Thunderheart", "The Pelican Brief", "Snow Falling on Cedars", "Blackhawk Down", "Swordfish", "The Notebook", "The Assassination of Jesse James", and "August Osage County". In 1996 his Pulitzer winning play "Buried Child" was awarded the Tony Award for Best Play. Arguably the high point of Shepard's career was in 1986 when his play "Fool for Love" was being made into a film by Robert Altman, hi play "Lie of the Mind" was being produced Off-Broadway. He met Academy Award winning actress Jessica Lange on the set of "Frances". They would go on to spend nearly 30 years together as a couple. Unfortunately, Sam died on July 27, 2017 at the age of 73 after battling ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease).
