Carl Easterbrook recognized his daughter's musical gifts early and personally trained her in trumpet and classical operatic voice. That training gave Easterbrook the vocal power that later became one of her trademarks as both an actress and singer. She attended Kearney High School and later graduated from Stephens College in Missouri, an institution known for its performing arts programs.

Early Career and "Laverne & Shirley"
