Early Life and Education

Grant Show was born on February 27, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan to Kathleen and Ed. With his sister Kelly, he was raised in the Milpitas, California area. Show attended UCLA for his higher education.

Television Career

Show had his breakout role when he was a teenager, playing Rick Hyde on the ABC soap opera "Ryan's Hope" from 1984 to 1987. For his last year on the show, he received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Juvenile Male in a Drama Series. Meanwhile, Show appeared in episodes of "ABC Afterschool Special" and "The Love Boat." At the end of the decade, he appeared in the NBC television film "When We Were Young" and began playing a main role on the NBC crime drama series "True Blue." The latter was short-lived, running for a single season through early 1990. Show was subsequently in the NBC miniseries "Lucky Chances." In 1992, he made his debut as bad-boy biker Jake Hanson in the second season of the Fox teen drama series "Beverly Hills, 90210." Show reprised his role as a main character in the spinoff series "Melrose Place," starring in its first five seasons from 1992 to 1997. He also appeared as Jake Hanson in the 1994 pilot episode of the "Melrose Place" spinoff "Models Inc." In 2005, Show played the main role of half-demon Lucas Boyd on the short-lived Fox supernatural drama series "Point Pleasant," and reprised his role from "Sex & the Single Mom" in the sequel film "More Sex & the Single Mom." Following roles on "Beautiful People" and "Dirt," Show had his next main role on the short-lived CBS series "Swingtown," which aired in 2008. The same year, he began playing the recurring role of Dr. Archer Montgomery on ABC's "Private Practice," a role he continued through 2011 and reprised in an episode of "Grey's Anatomy." Meanwhile, Show starred in the Lifetime television film "Natalee Holloway" and the short-lived CBS sitcom "Accidentally on Purpose." He reprised his role from the former in the 2011 sequel "Justice for Natalee Holloway." Around this time, Show appeared in guest roles on "Big Love," "Burn Notice," and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." He went on to have one of the biggest roles of his career on Lifetime's "Devious Maids," playing Spence Westmore. The series ran for four seasons from 2013 to 2016. Meanwhile, in 2015, Show had a recurring role in the second season of the USA Network series "Satisfaction." The following year, he had a recurring role on the short-lived ABC series "The Family." Show had his next main role from 2017 to 2022, playing billionaire oil tycoon and patriarch Blake Carrington on the CW's reboot of "Dynasty."

Film Career

Show made his big-screen debut in the 1992 drama "A Woman, Her Men, and Her Futon." He didn't act much on the big screen over the ensuing years, becoming more prolific in the 21st century. In 2007, Show was in the psychological thriller "The Girl Next Door," based on Jack Ketchum's novel of the same name. His other film credits include the 2011 action film "Born to Race" and the 2012 supernatural horror film "The Possession."

Personal Life

During his time on "Ryan's Hope," Show dated his co-star Yasmine Bleeth. He married his first wife, Scottish actress Pollyanna McIntosh, in 2004. After they divorced in 2011, Show married actress Katherine LaNasa in 2012. The two later appeared together on the shows "Devious Maids," "Satisfaction," and "Dynasty." Show and LaNasa have a daughter together named Eloise.

Real Estate

In 2016, Katherine and Grant bought a home in Marina Del Rey, which they proceeded to tear down. They built a 2,700-square-foot home on the lot before selling the property in May 2019 for $2.4 million.
