In 2009, McCullough was party to some real-life crime stopping when a man attempted to steal his laptop on the New York City subway. McCullough, who is a trained boxer, successfully fought him off, even when the thief attempted to stab him with a kitchen knife; the New York City police arrested the thief shortly thereafter.
