Early Life

Clinton Engle Howard was born on April 20, 1959, in Burbank, California. His parents, actors Rance Howard and Jean Speegle Howard, trained both Clint and Ron to approach acting professionally from an early age.

Clint was only two years old when he began appearing on "The Andy Griffith Show," which starred Ron as Opie Taylor. Clint played Leon, a mostly silent little boy dressed in a cowboy outfit who wandered around Mayberry offering people bites of his sandwich.

Child Acting Career

Howard quickly became one of the busiest child actors of the 1960s. He appeared on "The Fugitive," "The Virginian," "Breaking Point," and "The Streets of San Francisco" before landing his first major starring role.

From 1967 to 1969, Clint played Mark Wedloe on "Gentle Ben," opposite Dennis Weaver and a trained bear named Bruno. The family adventure series made Howard a recognizable child star and led to additional work in projects including "The Red Pony" and the "Night Gallery" episode "The Boy Who Predicted Earthquakes."

Clint also began working as a voice actor. He voiced Roo in Disney's early Winnie the Pooh productions and Junior, the young elephant, in the 1967 animated film "The Jungle Book."

His credits include "Evilspeak," "The Wraith," "Tango & Cash," "The Rocketeer," "The Waterboy," "Little Nicky," "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," "Cinderella Man," "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," and Rob Zombie's "Halloween." He developed a particularly loyal cult following through his starring role as a murderous ice cream vendor in the 1995 horror film "Ice Cream Man."

Clint has appeared in numerous movies directed by Ron, beginning with "Grand Theft Auto" in 1977.
