A native of St. Charles, Minnesota, Brad Nessler was born on June 3rd 1956. He graduated from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University) with a BA degree in broadcasting. Nessler's career beginnings date back to 1980, when he served as sports anchor and talk-show host for WGST-Radio in Atlanta. After five years, he became a sports director at WSB-Radio, again in Atlanta. This period (1980-1985), he worked on Georgia Tech basketball broadcasts and he also was the radio voice of the Peach Bowl. Then Nessler handled play-by-play duties for the Atlanta Falcons (1982-1988), before acquiring the same duty for the Minnesota Vikings on WCCO-Radio in Minneapolis, from 1988 to 1989. Additionally, he has called preseason telecasts for the Miami Dolphins and has done play-by-play of ACC football and basketball for Raycom/Jefferson Pilot telecasts. As from 1991 to 1992, he has served as play-by-play announcer for Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears preseason telecasts. Nessler joined CBS in 1990, calling NFL games, college football, and college basketball (both men's and women's college basketball). In 1992, he started working at ESPN as lead college basketball commentator, holding the same role for ESPN's college football games from 1992 to 1997. Brad Nessler was the broadcaster of the Eastern Conference Finals in 2003 and 2004, and the NBA Finals of 2003, as well as the play-by-play voice of the NBA on ABC/ESPN. Currently, he calls both college basketball and college football games for ESPN with occasional appearances on ESPN on ABC.
