Eric Sprott is a Canadian asset manager who has a net worth of $150 million. Born in Ottawa, Canada, Eric Sprott has over 40 years of investment industry experience. After becoming a chartered accountant, Sprott joined the investment industry as a research analyst at Merrill Lynch. In 2001, Sprott formed Sprott Asset Management, Inc., which included the Sprott Hedge Fund, and today the Sprott Asset Management company is one of Canada's largest independently owned securities firms. Over his investment career, his investment expertise and track record in managing a long list of funds speak for themselves. He was elected Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (FCA, FCPA), a designation reserved only for those who demonstrate outstanding career achievements to the community and within their profession. Sprott has been recognized for his considerable philanthropic efforts as well. Sprott and his family established the Sprott Foundation in 1988 to address urgent human need, hunger and homelessness. He has also provided generous endowments to Carleton University, the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Daily Bread Food Bank, The United Way and others. In June 2012, the Sprott Foundation donated $25 million in support of the Department of Surgery at the University Health Network. In 2001, the Sprott School of Business, a faculty of Sprott's alma mater Carleton University, was established and is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Network of International Business Schools (NIBS).
