Born in Beverly Hills, California, Diane Gilman spent much of the 1960s making custom denim pants and jackets for rock stars. She then moved on to her own washable silk line, with a shop based in New York. She lost her line to a Chinese company that swindled her out of the rights in the 70s.
Fast forward to 2012, and she is now one of the Home Shopping Network's most popular sellers. She designs jeans, tops, shorts, and dresses with "baby boomer" women in mind.
