Vikram Lal made his debut on the list of world's richest once shares of his motorcycle maker Eicher Motors surged by over 60% last year. Eicher is India's third largest producer of commercial vehicles and also has a joint venture for production of trucks and buses. As for the company's Royal Enfield motorbikes, they are so much in demand that they have a 9-month long waiting list for them.
The much anticipated Royal Enfield Continental GT motorbike was launched in London last September and then in India in November. Vikram Lal got his training in Germany before heading back to his native India to help his father with his tractor business.
