A newly-established billionaire, Max Turnauer is the son of Herbert Turnauer, the founder of the industrial holding company Constantia Industries. Founded back in 1969 in Vienna, Constantia now owns four companies, including FunderMax, whose specialty is making timber products and decorative laminates, and Isosport, which produces plastic composite materials for the ski and snowboard industries. According to 2011 files, the group's revenues exceeded $1.1 billion that year.

Already traded on the Vienna exchange, the holding company was taken private in 2004. Nowadays, Max Turnauer is not involved in the management of the company, leaving the managing duties to his son Stanislaus, who is the current CEO of Constantia Industries.
