What is Lim Oon Kuin's Net Worth?

Lim Oon Kuin is a Singaporean entrepreneur who has a net worth of $1.9 billion. Lim Oon Kuin started his career as an apprentice mechanic when he was a teenager. Kuin was just twenty years old when he founded Hin Leong Trading with a single truck in 1963. The company was meant to prosper, not only because of its name ("Hin Leong" means "Prosperity" in Chinese), but also due to the Lim's sharp business acumen. Thus, Hin Leong Trading is now one of Singapore's largest independent oil traders.

However, he joined Singapore's billionaire list thanks to his majority stake in Universal Terminal, Asia's largest oil logistics terminal, whose recent higher valuation has increased Kuin's net worth significantly. In addition to the above, Lim also has a fleet of 100 tankers through the shipping arm Ocean Tankers that is run by his son Evan. As for his two daughters, they are also involved in the family business, which is one of the largest locally-owned independent oil trading companies nowadays. In order to satisfy the vast need of shipping, Hin Leong Trading even formed a tanker pool consortium with Denmark's A.P. Moller-Maersk, Japan's Mitsui O.S.K Lines, Singapore's Samco Shipholding.
