Worth over a billion, Alfredo Egydio Arruda Villela Filho is a subtle member of one of Brazil's oldest banking dynasties. He is a chairman and one of the largest individual shareholders of Sao Paulo-based conglomerate Itausa Investimentos Itau SA, with interests in finance, real estate and a range of other industries. Itausa holds the reins of Itau Unibanco, the largest bank in the southern hemisphere, with total assets of $500 billion. Furthermore, it is the owner of Itautec, an electronics manufacturer specializing in ATMs; Duratex, a leading high-end provider of bathroom and wood products; as well as the chemical maker Eleikeiroz.

Aside from Filho's involvement with the group, he joins his billionaire sister Ana Lucia de Mattos Barretto Villela in the support of Alana Institute. Born in Sao Paulo in 1969, he lost his parents in a plane crash and he and his sister were raised by their aunt, Maria de Lourdes.
