Brian Thomas Grazer was born in Los Angeles, California in July 1951. His younger brother Gavin Grazer is an actor and director. Brian won a scholarship to the University of Southern California and graduated from the School or Cinema-Television in 1974. He quit law school after a year to pursue his career in Hollywood, CA. He met friend and business partner Ron Howard working at Paramount Pictures. In 1982 he produced the Howard directed film Night Shift. The pair teamed up for Splash in 1984, which was nominated for an Oscar award for Best Original Screenplay. In 1986 Howard and Grazer founded Imagine Entertainment. Grazer has earned 43 Academy Award and 162 Emmy nominations in his career. His major films include Parenthood, Backdraft, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and Frost/Nixon. He won the Oscar for Best Picture for A Beautiful Mind. Time Magazine named Brian Grazer of their 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2007. Imagine Entertainment is responsible for the TV shows Sports Night, Arrested Development, 24, and Friday Night Lights. Grazer is married to Veronica Smiley and they live in Santa Monica, CA. More recently he produced the TV shows Empire, Shots Fired, and Genius. He authored the book A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life in 2015.
