Micah Tanous is best known as the husband of former "The Real Housewives of Orange County" cast member Peggy Tanous. He appeared regularly during Peggy's single season as a full-time cast member in 2011.

Outside reality television, Micah has worked in website development, online marketing, video sales technology and internet security. He founded W5 Internet and served as the CEO of Monarchy Holdings, a private company connected to several internet ventures. Although the couple presented an affluent Orange County lifestyle on television, they later faced substantial financial problems involving their Irvine home, delinquent mortgage payments, foreclosure proceedings and Peggy's 2013 bankruptcy filing.

Technology Career

Micah founded W5 Internet, an Irvine, California-based company that offered website design, online marketing and other digital services. One of the company's products was My Virtual Salesperson, which allowed businesses to place video spokespeople on their websites. Peggy appeared in promotional material for the service.

Tanous also served as chief executive of Monarchy Holdings. The company was associated with ventures including W5 Internet and InstantShutter.com, an online photography platform. W5 later promoted encryption and digital-security services in addition to its original website-development business.

Because Micah's companies are privately owned, their revenues, profits and valuations have never been publicly disclosed. There is no record of a major acquisition, institutional financing round or other transaction that would establish a significant value for his ownership interests.

The Real Housewives of Orange County

Micah became known to television audiences when Peggy joined the sixth season of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Orange County." The series followed the couple's marriage, family life and friendships with other Orange County residents.

Micah appeared in scenes involving the couple's daughters, social events and Peggy's return to modeling. The program also showed the family's upscale home and lifestyle during a period when their finances were becoming increasingly strained.

Peggy left the show after one season, later explaining that the stress and anxiety associated with reality television had become overwhelming.

Foreclosure and Financial Problems

Unfortunately, Peggy and her husband Micah have experienced some financial problems over the years. The couple purchased an Irvine, California, home for $1.379 million in early 2006. A notice of default was recorded in November 2010 after they fell approximately $190,000 behind on a $1 million mortgage.

In 2011, Peggy filed a lawsuit involving BAC Home Loans Servicing, U.S. Bank National Association and PNC Mortgage in an attempt to prevent foreclosure. She alleged that the lenders had failed to honor a proposed loan-modification agreement. At the time, the total amount owed against the property was reported to be more than $1.3 million.

In March 2013, Peggy filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in California. Her bankruptcy schedules listed approximately $2.16 million in liabilities, the majority of which consisted of home loans and unpaid property taxes. The filing also listed more than $70,000 in credit-card claims and a $10,000 obligation connected to a book contract.

The mortgage dispute continued after the bankruptcy filing. In 2015, U.S. Bank alleged that Peggy had missed 75 monthly payments of approximately $6,000 and owed around $1.54 million on the primary mortgage. Court filings also referenced a second mortgage of approximately $300,000, while the home was valued at around $840,000. The lender sought permission from the bankruptcy court to continue foreclosure proceedings.

Although a bankruptcy judge later allowed the lender to resume foreclosure proceedings, available ownership records indicate that the foreclosure was never completed. Peggy retained ownership of the property and ultimately sold it in 2023 for $2.888 million.

Personal Life

Micah married Peggy Tanous in June 2005. They have two daughters, London and Capri. Micah supported Peggy during her struggle with postpartum depression, which she discussed openly on "The Real Housewives of Orange County."

The family largely withdrew from reality television following Peggy's departure from the series.
