Regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, Victor Osimhen plays for the Italian Serie A club Napoli and the Nigeria national football team. Among his career accomplishments, Osimhen won the Serie A title with Napoli in 2023 and won a domestic double while on loan to the Turkish Süper Lig club Galatasaray in 2025.

Contracts & Salary

Victor Osimhen signed a four-year contract with Galatasaray in July 2025, running through June 2029. His deal includes a net annual salary of €15 million (around $16.5 million), a €1 million loyalty bonus (about $1.1 million), and roughly €5 million in image rights payments (about $5.5 million). This brings his guaranteed yearly income to about €21 million (approximately $23 million), with some reports suggesting his total earnings, including sponsorships, could reach as high as €26 million ($28.5 million).

Early Life

Victor Osimhen was born on December 29, 1998 in Lagos, Nigeria as the youngest of six children of Christiana and Patrick. Growing up, he idolized Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba.

VfL Wolfsburg

Osimhen began his professional club career at Germany's VfL Wolfsburg, which he joined in early 2017. In his first full Bundesliga season with the club, he made 12 league appearances with no goals before his season ended due to shoulder surgery. Osimhen also appeared in one game of Wolfsburg's 2017-18 DFB-Pokal campaign.

Charleroi

In the summer of 2018, Osimhen was loaned to the Belgian Pro League club Charleroi. A month later, he scored his first career goal. Osimhen finished his season-long loan to Charleroi with 20 goals in 36 total appearances, prompting the club to acquire him. However, he was soon transferred.

Lille

Osimhen was transferred to the French Ligue 1 club Lille in August of 2019. In his debut for the club on August 11, he scored a brace in a 2-1 victory over Nantes. He continued his strong playing performance throughout the rest of the 2019-20 season, finishing as Lille's top scorer with 18 goals across all competitions.

Napoli

At the end of July in 2020, Osimhen signed with the Italian Serie A club Napoli. He had a shortened first season with the club, as a shoulder injury and a COVID-19 diagnosis later in the year kept him out of action until early 2021. The next season, Osimhen suffered a severe head injury in a game against Inter Milan and underwent surgery immediately. The incident caused him to wear a protective mask for all future games. Osimhen had his breakthrough season with Napoli in 2022-23, when he scored his first career Champions League goal and his first career Serie A hat-trick. He finished the season with a league-leading 26 goals in 32 appearances, helping Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years. For his season, he was named the Serie A Footballer of the Year as well as the CAF's African Footballer of the Year. Osimhen was less prodigious in the 2023-24 season, with 15 goals in 25 league appearances.

Shortly after that, Galatasaray won the Süper Lig title. Osimhen finished the season with a league-leading 26 goals.

Nigeria National Team

Osimhen began his international career with the Nigeria national U-17 team, with which he won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup. With ten goals in that tournament, he won the Golden Boot and Silver Ball awards. Osimhen later made some appearances on the U-23 team. He made his senior debut for Nigeria in mid-2017, and played in his first Africa Cup of Nations in 2019. After missing the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations due to a COVID-19 diagnosis, Osimhen returned for the 2023 tournament and helped Nigeria reach the final against the Ivory Coast. In the final, Nigeria lost 1-2.

Personal Life

In late 2022, Osimhen had a daughter named Haly.
