Ricardo Lockette was born on May 21, 1986 in Albany, Georgia. He played college football at Fort Valley State University, and was signed by the Seattle Seahawks after the NFL lockout ended after previously going undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Lockette was a practice squad player for most of his rookie season, but was promoted to the active 53-man roster in December 2011. He recorded two catches during the season for 105 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals. The following year, Lockette was cut during final roster cuts after the 2012 preseason. He was later re-signed to the practice squad, but was released soon thereafter. Lockette signed with the 49ers in September 2012. He didn't appear in any games during the 2012-13 season, and was released the following preseason. Before the start of the 2013-14 season, Lockette was signed by the Chicago Bears to the practice squad. He was waived by the Bears on October 21, and returned to the Seahawks the following day. Lockette finished the year with five catches for 82 yards, and added a rush for -2 yards.
