Zay Flowers Made $2 Million Last Season. He Just Signed A Contract Extension Worth $140 Million

The Baltimore Ravens drafted wide receiver Zay Flowers in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, so they clearly had high hopes for him. Yet even they may not have anticipated just how consistently good Flowers would be this early in his career. Through three seasons, he's amassed 237 catches, 3,128 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns, quickly becoming the most valuable target for quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Baltimore may be entering this season with a new coach after Jesse Minter replaced John Harbaugh, but Flowers will be sticking around for the long haul. The receiver and the Ravens agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $140 million. The deal includes $108 million in guaranteed money; both numbers are records for a Ravens wide receiver.

With an average annual value of $35 million, Flowers is also one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the entire NFL. He's tied for fourth with Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings.

In 2024, Flowers made the Pro Bowl, the first time a Ravens receiver ever managed that accomplishment. He did it again last season after setting career highs with 86 catches and 1,211 yards. The Ravens picked up Flowers' fifth-year team option in April, so he was already under contract through 2027. This new deal will keep him in Baltimore through 2031.

Up until this point of his career, Flowers has earned about $11.6 million, with a $2 million salary last year. Per Spotrac, next season's salary will be a little over $2.66 million. Flowers's extension won't kick in until the 2027 season. It might be a little difficult to play one more season at a lower rate, but Flowers has clearly had no issues up to this point. What's one more season when a huge pay increase is right behind it?

Besides, there's more to worry about in meantime. Flowers, Jackson, Minter, and the rest of the Ravens will try to return to the playoffs after a disappointing 2025 campaign. This is a team that has had modest postseason success over the past decade, though it hasn't won a Super Bowl since the 2013 season, when Joe Flacco was under center.

The new era of the Ravens is here. Flowers will be a key—and lucrative—part of it.
