Dwyane Wade Got A Free McLaren for His Birthday Worth $230k

By on January 19, 2012 in ArticlesEntertainment

Last weekend, baller Dwyane Wade celebrated his 30th birthday with a party in Miami. Besides all the Ace of Spades champagne poppin' and all the other luxury gifts he received, the highlight was a brand new, super-exclusive 2012 McLaren MP4-12C supercar.  And it wasn't a gift from girlfriend Gabrielle Union or teammate Lebron James, it was compliments of a Miami luxury car dealership he promotes. Not only does this new whip cost a cool $230,000, it 's new enough that it only just started selling in the United States as of this month. It is also rare, with only 500 set to be delivered to the United States. It also sets a new level to the term "free swag".

This new exotic super is the first fully made by McLaren since their McLaren F1 first released 20 years ago, which was the world's fastest super car from 1993 until 2005, when it was beaten by the Koenigsegg CCR. Their new model, the MP4-12C isn't the world's fastest, it gets bonus points for being "green". While being able to do 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 205mph, it has mileage of 15mpg city and 22mpg highway, which is good enough to avoid the EPA's federal gas-guzzler tax.

Inside the ultra-lightweight fiberglass body you'll find a twin-turbo 3.8 liter V8 that produces 592 horsepower, attached to a dual-clutch, 7-speed auto-manual transmission. This mid-engine, rear-wheel drive whip seats two, with 19-inch front wheels and slighly bigger 20-inch back wheels. A unique suspension utilizes special dampers instead of traditional stabilizer bars. And the doors open up all cool.

If true racing performance is your reason for buying a car of this class, the McLaren MP-12C is a great deal at $230,000, apparently. And if you're Dwyane Wade, it also makes a  great birthday present.
