The 9 Most Expensive Cigars

By on May 22, 2012 in ArticlesEntertainment

One of the hallmarks of a life of affluence is a good cigar. But not even luxury cigars are all created equal. Below is a list of the 9 most expensive cigars on the market. They range from 35 dollars a stogie to $200,000. And to a cigar novice, they all offer a basically identical experience, but to an experienced aficionado they are presumably like light and day.

Cigars have been around for a long time, but in the United States they've increased in popularity significantly in the last 20 years or so. More people than ever are smoking cigars, although it's a sure bet that most of them aren't smoking many of the cigars on this list. One possible explanation for the popularity of cigars is the relatively low price of "little cigars" compared to cigarettes thanks to the lack of vice taxes associated with the product.

There's also the (mis)conception that cigars aren't as bad for the smoker as cigarettes are. However, most studies show that cigar smokers are at a higher risk for problems similar to those of cigarette smokers, and in some cases almost at the same levels. But because of their relatively low popularity there haven't been anywhere near as many studies on the health effects of cigars as there have been on cigarettes.

You'll probably notice the number 1 entry is somewhat different from the other entries – as its massive scale puts it far beyond a normal-sized cigar. But the rest of these cigars are everyday size, and are packed with quality tobacco and other ingredients that make them worth their well above average price tags – at least to someone who knows cigars.

So click on the gallery below to see the nine most expensive cigars available now. Consider saving up some of your cigarette money and maybe you can afford one or two of these luxurious cigars.
