Starting about a decade ago, heavy-metal icon/horror film auteur Rob Zombie and his actress wife Sheri Moon Zombie quietly began assembling one of the most distinctive residential compounds in the Hollywood Hills.
Rob and Sheri bought the first home for $2.5 million in April 2016. In 2018, they paid $4.5 million for the larger home next door. Today, they listed the extremely private compound for $9 million.
The homes are also available separately, with the larger listed for $5.6 million and the smaller for $3.4 million.
The listing includes two architecturally significant homes, side by side, tucked deep in the Laurel Canyon neighborhood. Both were designed in the 1950s by midcentury architect Robert "Boulder" Thorgusen. Together, they span more than seven secluded acres of land originally landscaped by the legendary Garrett Eckbo. The setting feels like something out of one of Zombie's films—private, atmospheric, and visually striking.
Zombie and his wife, actress Sheri Moon Zombie, bought the homes in two separate transactions: the smaller house for $2.5 million nearly ten years ago, and the larger next door for $4.5 million in early 2018. They have now listed the entire dual-parcel estate for $9 million.
The smaller of the two homes is a 2,300-square-foot one-level residence built in 1953. Designed by midcentury architect Robert "Boulder" Thorgusen, the home features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a dramatic folded roofline. Inside, slate floors and walls of glass lend a moody yet elegant feel, anchored by a soaring living room with the original raised-hearth fireplace.
The kitchen is fitted with top-of-the-line Miele and Gaggenau appliances and connects to a dining area and a garden-facing bedroom. The primary suite includes clerestory windows, a soaking tub, and a walk-in shower. Outdoors, the property is surrounded by mature trees and features a raised spa and lap pool flanked by a wood sundeck.

The land was originally landscaped by the legendary Garrett Eckbo, and the entire compound is tucked away behind a shared gated driveway in the heart of Laurel Canyon.
Rob Zombie is one of the rare entertainers who has successfully built dual careers in both music and film, directing cult horror classics such as "The Devil's Rejects" and the 2007 remake of "Halloween." This compound mirrors that dual legacy: private, cinematic, and undeniably cool.
For buyers drawn to secluded design, old Hollywood history, or rock-and-roll pedigree, this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a piece of California creative history.
