Here are some fun facts most people don't know about Paul Anka:
#1: He became a superstar at the age of 17 thanks to the song "Diana," a song he wrote himself, and became a global sensation.
#2: He quickly followed with a string of classics, including "Put Your Head on My Shoulder," "Lonely Boy," "Puppy Love," and "You Are My Destiny," all of which he personally wrote.
#3: In the 1960s, a French singer had a minor hit (in France) with a song called "Comme d'habitude." That title translates to "As usual." In 1969, Paul took the music and wrote new English lyrics. He also gave the song a new title: "My Way." Frank Sinatra then turned it into one of the most iconic songs of all time.
#4: He wrote the theme music for "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson."
#5: He is Jason Bateman's father-in-law. Jason has been married to Paul's daughter, Amanda Anka, since 2001.
And lastly, my favorite fun fact:
#6: Remember the very last scene in "Dumb and Dumber" when the Hawaiian Tropic bikini models hop off the bus to ask for help from Harry and Lloyd? One of the three women who stepped off the bus was a 22-year-old Swedish model named Anna Åberg. She's the one who steps off the bus with the Swedish greeting: "hej allihopa," which means "hey everyone":
Anna went on to become a personal trainer in LA. Paul hired her in 1999. A year later, Paul left his wife over four decades for the bikini model-turned-trainer. At the time, she was 29, and he was 60.
In 2005, Paul and Anna welcomed a son. They married in 2008. The union quickly proved to be a mismatch. In December 2009, Anna Anka called the cops on Paul after getting into a fight because Anna fired one of Paul's favorite longtime housekeepers. In her police report, Anna alleged that Paul had pointed a gun at her, but the home's surveillance system showed no evidence that this happened. Yada yada yada, some other crazy stuff happened that I don't need to get into, but at the end of the day, the fights happened at a large mansion in the LA suburb called Westlake Village. And that brings us to today's story.
In April 2007, Paul paid $3.9 million for one of the most impressive estates inside Southern California's ultra-exclusive Sherwood Country Club.
The home first hit the market around 2023 with a $10 million price tag, but it lingered without finding a buyer.
Now, with a new album completed and a planned move to Nevada underway, he's trying again, this time with a slightly more realistic price of $8.99 million.
Walls Covered With Gold Records
The roughly 6,000-square-foot home sits on more than six acres, one of the largest lots in Sherwood, giving it a level of privacy and scale that's hard to replicate in Los Angeles.
From the moment you enter through the gated drive and motor court, the home leans into a classic, almost European-inspired design, with high ceilings, marble finishes, and large, light-filled living spaces.
More than 30 gold records line the walls, representing hits and collaborations from across decades. These aren't just his own songs, but works tied to artists like Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Bublé. In one room, the records surround a grand piano, turning the space into something that feels equal parts lounge, archive, and creative sanctuary.

The property includes a fully functional, professional-grade recording studio where Anka recently worked on his 2026 album "Inspirations of Life and Love." It's a rare example of a home where the owner didn't just live off past success, but continued to create new work at a high level. Here is a video tour:
Designed for Entertaining (and Showing Off the View)
Like most properties in Sherwood, the real magic happens outside.
Because of its elevated perch, the estate offers sweeping views of the golf course, clubhouse, and surrounding mountains. The backyard is designed to maximize that vantage point, with an infinity-edge pool, multiple lounge areas, a fire pit, and dedicated spaces for outdoor dining.
A glass-walled gym with an outdoor shower adds a modern touch, while recent landscaping upgrades were specifically aimed at improving sightlines across the property.
Inside, the home continues that entertainment-first philosophy. There are multiple formal and informal living areas, a large chef's kitchen with a center island, a billiards room, and a primary suite with dual bathrooms, dual closets, and a private balcony.
Why He's Finally Selling
According to Anka, the timing comes down to a shift in priorities.
After holding onto the property longer than expected, he's now planning to relocate to Nevada, where he has lived in the past, while maintaining a smaller place in Los Angeles.
There's also a practical element.
Even in his 80s, Anka remains professionally active, with touring and a developing Broadway project that will require extended time away. Maintaining a sprawling six-acre estate becomes less practical when your work keeps you constantly on the move.
