In 1960, Pat Boone was one of the biggest entertainers in America. He had already scored a string of pop hits, crossed into movies, and built a squeaky-clean image that made him the cardigan-wearing, white-buck-shoe counterpart to Elvis Presley's leather-jacketed rebellion.

That same year, Boone made a purchase that now looks almost impossible to imagine: he bought a gated Beverly Hills estate for his wife, Shirley, and their four daughters for $159,000.

Sixty-six years later, that same property is back on the market for nearly $23 million.

The longtime Boone family home, located in the Beverly Hills Flats, is being offered as a rare legacy estate on more than an acre of land. The listing is held by Lea Porter of The Beverly Hills Estates and frames the property as either a renovation project, a preservation opportunity, or a potential canvas for a new world-class compound.

The house itself was built in 1939 and sits on one of the most prestigious streets in Beverly Hills, near the Beverly Hills Hotel and just minutes from Rodeo Drive.
