Matthew McConaughey's Home: Engagment Ring? Check! $4.9 Million Mansion? Check!

By on April 26, 2012 in ArticlesCelebrity Homes

As anyone who reads gossip columns and magazines knows, maintaining a healthy marriage in Hollywood is hard.  If both halves of the couple are working actors, they often spend months apart, and juggling a family and work commitments can be too much.  Add to that the pressure of one half of the couple becoming more successful than the other, and often the relationship falls apart.  Some performers choose to date someone who has nothing to do with their profession, but this can backfire as well, when the non-performer is left holding everything together while the performer is off working.  Consequently, many performers simply don't get married, and instead, enter into long-term relationships.  However, a few of them, ultimately, choose to marry.  This is the case with Matthew McConaughey and his long-time girlfriend, now fiancee, Camila Alves.  The pair began dating in 2007 and already has two children together.  They became engaged in December of 2011.  In addition to an engagement ring, Mr. McConaughey also purchased a new mansion in early 2012, in his home state of Texas.

The 10,000 square foot Spanish-style mansion was on the market for a number of years before he snatched it up at approximately $4.9 million dollars, a significant price-drop from its original selling value.  The home sports seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a massive kitchen with multiple islands, an elevator, multiple verandas, a courtyard with fountain, a guesthouse with a porch, multiple places to moor boats, multiple balconies, a four-car garage, and more than one fireplace.  High ceilings, tile floors, and massive windows abound.  There is an abundance of green everywhere and stone paths wind around the grounds.  It looks like Mr. McConaughey is finally truly "settling down", and he has chosen the perfect house in which to do it.
