Jessica Simpson's Home: The Former Starlets Former Mansion is Now Relatively Affordable

By on March 8, 2012 in ArticlesCelebrity Homes

Jessica Simpson burst into the collective conscious as a pop starlet during the years that also launched the careers of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, and a few other, now forgotten, pop starlets.  It was almost impossible not to turn on the television and see one or the other of the young women strutting their stuff on an awards show, performing at a large event, or appearing in a music video.  Each performer had something that set them apart from the others.  Britney had sex appeal and dance skills.  Christina had sex appeal and a powerhouse voice.  Mandy Moore had a simultaneously wholesome, yet slightly naughty, vibe that she parlayed into a moderately successful film career.  She has since focused on folk music instead of pop.  Jessica Simpson, perhaps quickly realizing that she was not going to be able to maintain the same level of pop/performance success as her peer group, quickly focused her energies on becoming a reality celebrity.  Her reality series, with then husband, fellow pop star, Nick Lachey, was immensely popular.  However, the relationship buckled on the pressures of pop stardom, and the two ultimately divorced, making the show, "Newlyweds", obsolete.  Now, Ms. Simpson is making headlines again, as she is preparing to give birth to her first child with husband, Eric Johnson.  Part of the appeal of her reality show, was the time viewers were able to spend in the immense mansion that she shared with her husband.  The former couple quickly sold the property in 2006, but it went back on the market in 2010 for almost two-thirds less than its original price.

On the market for a strangely small $1.95 million, the 6,400 square foot mansion houses five bedrooms and six bathrooms.  It features a gorgeous outdoor pool, winding staircases, high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, a massive open plan kitchen, and multiple fireplaces.

The drop in the property's price could be a sign that interest in the former couple has cooled, or it could be due to the fact that living in a house that used to be beamed into millions of people's homes every week feels mildly creepy.  Whatever the reason, the house is now a relative steal.  So if you've got $2 million kicking around, go for it.
