Catherine Zeta-Jones' House: When Separating Means Separating Your Houses, Too

By on September 3, 2013 in ArticlesCelebrity Homes

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are virtually Hollywood royalty.  He has two Oscars, one for producing a Best Picture winner, and one for acting. She's got one for acting, and a Tony Award for her work onstage. Between the pair of them, they have a ridiculous number of hit films, a couple dozen other awards, a beautiful family, and a more than ample fortune.  So the announcement that the pair was separating sent shockwaves through Hollywood.  This was supposed to be one of Tinseltown's most enduring pairs!  They'd seen each other through career triumphs and slumps, his Stage IV throat cancer, her severe depression, and everything in between.  The couple has repeatedly stated that the separation is just that, a chance for them to have some space, rather than the end of their marriage.  They reportedly plan to use the time to regroup and get back on track.  What neither party is saying is just how complicated a divorce would be at this point.  For a couple as successful as they are, it's not just the emotional fallout that they have to consider, it is the separating of their assets, including a sizable real estate portfolio, that could prove very difficult.

Catherine Zeta-Jones' house with Michael Douglas, most of the time, is their home in New York, New York.  A massive penthouse that was constructed from the purchase of three units, their Manhattan abode is located in the famed Kenilworth Building on Central Park West.  Their second property, in Bedford, New York sits on 5.7 acres and is spread out over 6,300 square feet.  It has five bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, and cost the couple $5.25 million when they purchased it in 2010.  Catherine Zeta-Jones' house in Swansea, Wales, is the primary residence for her parents.  She and Michael Douglas purchased the massive property on the coast to serve as their UK home base.  Catherine Zeta-Jones' house with Michael Douglas in Bermuda, completes their property portfolio.  Their home in Bermuda is a sprawling property with high ceilings, lots of sunlight, and stunning views.  If this separation leads to divorce, than there may be some truly hot properties hitting the market soon.
