The FOX series Terra Nova wasn't as big a success as its producers had hoped. It had some promising ingredients – time travel, an elaborate science fiction mystery, dinosaurs … but for whatever reason it just didn't pan out. But, every cloud has a silver lining – in this case, the distinctive automobiles used on the show are all up for auction in Australia. And they're going for surprisingly low prices!
How low? Well, a 1985 Range Rover sits at $2,409, while a 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser is priced at $6,059. Those prices probably seem low, and they are. You see, having appeared on an unpopular TV show (and rather notorious flop) like Terra Nova isn't as much of a selling point as you might think. In fact, the sellers' descriptions of the vehicles fail to even mention the title of the show:
"Has been modified by MovieWorld Studios for a popular TV show, NOT for road use. Inspection recommended."
So as you can see, not only are they not from an ACTUAL "popular" TV show, but they aren't even legal to drive on the road. So less than $2,500 might actually be kind of steep for a vehicle that isn't even street-legal.
You might disagree, though, especially once you take a look at some of the cars below. I happen to think they look pretty cool. The pseudo-camouflage is flashy without looking stupid, and the vehicles definitely look like something out of the future – fitting when you consider the scifi world of the TV show they were built for.
Anyway, the show was canceled back in March, but if you've got the funds and the inclination you might be able to keep it alive in your very own garage. Take a look at the gallery, won't you? Your neighbors might laugh at you now, but if they ever have to flee from dinosaurs, you can bet they'll be asking you for a ride.
