Amazon and Zuckerberg's businesses are thriving and as a result, each have seen their fortunes grow by more than $20 billion each. Bezos has added $22.6 billion so far this year. This makes his net worth $85 billion and gives him the title of the second richest person in the world. Only Bill Gates ($90 billion) is wealthier.
Zuckerberg's net worth has risen by $20.1 billion so far this year. His $50 billion net worth makes him the fifth richest person in the world.
Bezos has 93% of his net worth tied up in Amazon stock whereas Zuckerberg has 96% of his wealth tied up in Facebook stock. Both companies are performing strongly so far in 2017, leading to this giant bump in their founders' networth. Amazon stock is up 36% year to date with Facebook stock up 41% so far in 2017.
