It feels like just yesterday that Elon Musk's net worth hit $1.3 trillion. Oh. Because that was just yesterday.
And it seems like it's only been a few days since Elon Musk became the world's first trillionaire. Oh. Because that was just a few days ago.
I'm writing this article at 10 am PST on Tuesday, June 16. At this exact moment, SpaceX is trading at $222 a share, which gives the company a $2.925 trillion market cap. At that level, Elon's net worth is now $1.5 trillion.
Pretending for a moment that Elon had $1.5 trillion in cash, if he decided to give his fortune away in equal parts to all 350 million people in America, he could give everyone in America $4,300. Assuming there are 8.3 billion people in the world, he could give everyone on earth $181.
The total value of all bitcoin right now is $1.3 trillion. So Elon is worth more than all of bitcoin, with $200 billion left over.
Elon could literally buy every single professional football, basketball, soccer and baseball team on earth… with plenty of cash to spare.
Elon Musk's net worth is now larger than the entire annual economic output (GDP) of countries like Australia, Mexico, or South Korea. If Elon Musk were a country, his "economy" would rank roughly 15th in the world, just behind Indonesia and ahead of nearly 180 other nations.
If you spent $1,000,000 every single day, it would take you about 2.7 years to spend $1 billion. To spend $1.5 trillion at that same rate? It would take you 4,109 years.

Elon's Net Worth Math
SpaceX market cap: $2.925 trillion
Musk's estimated SpaceX ownership: 43%
That makes Musk's SpaceX stake worth: $2.92 trillion x 43% = $1.25775 trillion
Now add his estimated non-SpaceX assets, primarily Tesla and other holdings:
$1.25226 trillion + $260 billion = $1.51775 trillion
Rounded, Elon Musk's net worth is now approximately:
$1.5 trillion
In other words, in the last 24 hours, Elon's net worth has increased by $500 billion. Read that sentence again. A $500 billion increase in 24 hours. Elon's 24-hour wealth gain is greater than the combination of Bill Gates's peak net worth + Warren Buffett's peak net worth + Jeff Bezos' peak net worth.
***UPDATE*** After peaking at $220 around 10 am PST. SpaceX shares closed at $201, which is still up around 5% from the day before. At that share price, SpaceX's market cap is $2.66 trillion, which gives Elon a net worth of around $1.4 trillion.
FYI, every additonal $500 billion in SpaceX market cap adds roughly $215 billion to Elon's net worth. Below is a cheat sheet showing what Elon would be worth (including his other assets) at various market cap milestones:
