Billionaire Vacation Hot Spots Revealed

By on July 9, 2016 in ArticlesBillionaire News

When the weather heats up, the rich and famous take off to ultra-luxurious destinations across the globe. Unlike most people slogging their coolers onto the public beach or pitching the family tent in a local campground, billionaires are spending their summers hidden away on private islands, exclusive resorts, secluded villas, and one-of-a-kind superyachts.

Anchors Away! Billionaires Cast Off On Superyachts

A favorite millionaire and billionaire vacation is a sight-seeing trip aboard a private superyacht. While many billionaires own their own custom-built yachts, others prefer to rent them for weeks at a time. According to Travel, superyacht rentals can cost anywhere from $200 thousand to over $1 million per week. Robb Report Editorial Director Bruce Wallin told Travel a superyacht is "like a floating mansion or palace with the helipad, water toys, the private movie theater, and a crew taking care of everything… It's potentially the most exclusive travel experience you can have."

According to Yachting Magazine, celebrities such as Beyoncé and J-Z, Mariah Carey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, and Lindsay Lohan have all rented superyachts to cruise the seas around Italy, Australia, Brazil, Turkey, France, and the Caribbean Islands.

Island Life! Super-Wealthy Jet To Private Destinations

Privacy and security are tantamount when millionaires and billionaires vacation. As such, celebrities and ultra-rich business executives prefer to leave popular tropical destinations behind and stay on private islands. CNN noted many celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Kate Winslet, Kate Moss, and Robert De Niro have stayed on Sir Richard Branson's private Necker Island, which is nestled in the British Virgin Islands. According to Travel, other private islands that boast billionaire guests include Magician David Copperfield's Musha Cay in the Bahamas, Red Bull CEO Dietrich Mateschitz's Laucala Island in Fiji, as well as Coco Prive Kuda Hithi Island in the Maldives.

High-Roller Adventures! Billionaires Stay In Exclusive Resorts And Villas

Similar to regular folk, millionaires and billionaires enjoy getaways and adventures, such as ski trips, safaris, and camping. However, these high-rollers don't just book any old hotel or vacation package; rather, they spend thousands to stay in exclusive getaways. According to Travel, while ultra-exclusive home and resort rentals are available across the globe, bespoke villa rentals in France are particularly popular among the wealthy, as are legendary resorts and chalets such as Cheval Blanc and Chalet Pelerin. Billionaires looking for more of an adventure can rent Cottar's 1920s Camp or the Cottar's Homestead in Kenya, where they can explore the African safari and view the wildlife.
