What is Dave Morin's Net Worth?
Dave Morin is an American tech entrepreneur and angel investor who has a net worth of $200 million. Dave Morin is the founder of the venture capital firms Slow Ventures and Offline Ventures and the co-founder of the now-defunct mobile social networking service Path. He was formerly a senior platform manager at Facebook, where he co-created the Facebook Platform and Facebook Connect.
Early Life and Education
Dave Morin was born on October 14, 1980, in Helena, Montana. As a youth, he skied for the northern division of the US Junior Olympic ski team. For his higher education, Morin went to the University of Colorado Boulder, from which he graduated in 2003 with his bachelor's degree in economics.
After working for a few years in marketing at Apple, Morin became a senior platform manager at Facebook in 2006. One of the company's first employees, he went on to co-create the Facebook Platform, which allows third-party software developers to create applications within Facebook. By late 2007, around 7,000 applications had been developed on the Facebook Platform, and by the next summer, there were around 33,000 applications and over 400,000 registered software developers. Morin also co-created Facebook Connect, allowing users to connect their profile data and authentication credentials to other websites.
Path
In 2010, Morin left Facebook and co-founded the social networking mobile application Path with Shawn Fanning and Dustin Mierau. An app designed for photo sharing and messaging, Path allowed users to share up to 50 contacts with their friends and family. In early 2011, Morin turned down a $100 million offer from Google to acquire the company. Later that year, Path added more features and grew its membership to over 300,000. The service generated significant controversy over the subsequent years for reportedly storing and accessing user phone contacts without permission, including from underage users. In 2015, Path was acquired by the South Korean company Kakao. Three years later, the service was shut down.

Morin left Slow Ventures in 2020 and launched another venture capital firm, Offline Ventures. Co-founded with his wife Brit, the company uses a subscription funding model.
Other Endeavors
In 2013, Morin was a founding member of the Silicon Valley-based lobbying group FWD.us, which advocates for immigration and criminal justice reform. Its other major figures include Mark Zuckerberg and Joe Green. Although allegedly bipartisan, FWD.us has been criticized for its ties to big technology companies and its support of the Keystone Pipeline System. In other endeavors, Morin sits on the boards of directors of Eventbrite, Dwell Media, and U.S. Ski & Snowboard.

In 2011, Morin married fellow tech entrepreneur Brit Morin. Together, they have two sons and reside in Mill Valley, California.
