What Is Gesaffelstein's Net Worth?

Gesaffelstein is a French DJ, music programmer, producer, and songwriter who has a net worth of $10 million. Known as the "Dark Prince of Techno," Gesaffelstein has released the albums "Aleph" (2013), "Hyperion" (2019), and "Gamma" (2024), and he had a hit with the 2019 single "Lost in the Fire" (with the Weeknd). He has worked with artists such as A$AP Rocky, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Haim, Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, Lil Nas X, and Charli XCX. In 2026, Gesaffelstein won a Grammy for his remix of the Lady Gaga song "Abracadabra."

Early Life

Gesaffelstein was born Mike Lévy on June 24, 1985, in Lyon, France. His stage name is a portmanteau of the German word Gesamtkunstwerk ("total artwork") and the German theoretical physicist Albert Einstein. Gesaffelstein began producing music when he was 16 years old, after he started playing an analog synthesizer. He told Vogue Hommes International, "I had the luck of having a DJ as a neighbor, big record collector who owned synths, and with whom I was able to initiate myself to the creation of sounds, by teaching myself how the machines worked and to interest myself in production. One thing leading to another, without a particular aim, I continued making music."

Career

In 2008, Gesaffelstein released the EPs "Modern Walk" and "Vengeance Factory." The following year, he launched the independent record label Zone with Alex Reynaud, The Hacker, and David Rimokh, and he subsequently released the EPs "The Operator" (2009), "Variations" (2010), "Conspiracy PT. I" (2011), "Conspiracy PT. II" (2011), "Zone 4: Crainte / Errance" (2011), and "Bromance #4: Rise Of Depravity" (2012). Gesaffelstein graced the cover of the July 2012 issue of DJ Mag, and that year his song "Viol" was featured in commercials by Givenchy and Citroën. He co-produced two songs on the 2013 Kanye West album "Yeezus." Gesaffelstein released his debut album, "Aleph," in October 2013, and it reached #16 on the U.S. Billboard Top Dance Albums chart and featured the singles "Pursuit" and "Hate or Glory." In 2015, he composed the score for the French-Belgian film "Disorder." In 2018, Gesaffelstein released his second album, "Hyperion," which peaked at #10 on the Billboard Top Dance Albums chart and #13 on the Lithuanian Albums chart. The single "Lost in the Fire," a collaboration with the Weeknd, reached the top 10 on the charts in numerous countries. The single was certified Platinum or higher in 10 countries. In 2019, Gesaffelstein released the EP "Novo Sonic System," and he followed it with his third album, "Gamma," in 2024 and his first live album, "Enter the Gamma (Live)," in 2026.

Personal Life

In a 2014 interview with Vice, Gesaffelstein spoke about the misconception that he is mysterious. He stated, "I know that in the U.S. and in Europe, too, that people think I'm a mysterious guy and they think that I'm dark and all this shit. But I'm not. Just because I try to focus on the music. And the only thing I give to people, it's just music, you know. I don't have Instagram. I don't put my food on Twitter. I don't take pictures of shit. And today, every DJ, every music person does this shit. It's crazy. And when you are not doing that, you are like, mysterious. But I'm not. I'm just normal. I'm a musician. The only thing I can give to people, it's music."

Awards and Nominations

Gesaffelstein has earned three Grammy nominations, winning for Best Remixed Recording for "Abracadabra – Gesaffelstein Remix" (shared with Lady Gaga) in 2026. His other nominations were for Album of the Year for Kanye West's "Donda" (2022) and Lady Gaga's "Mayhem" (2026). In 2016, he received a Lumiere Award (France) nomination for Best Music for the film "Disorder." In 2025, the Charli XCX album "BRAT" earned Gesaffelstein a Gold Derby Award for Album of the Year and a nomination for Best Pop Album.
