Music Career, 2009-2019
Hit-Boy had his first major credit as a producer on the soundtrack album to the 2009 documentary film "More than a Game." On the album, he co-wrote Mary J. Blige's song "Stronger." Later in 2009, Hit-Boy co-wrote and co-produced Lil Wayne's song "Drop the World," which became Hit-Boy's first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. He went on to become acquainted with Kanye West in 2010, and signed to the rapper's GOOD Music label in 2011 as an in-house producer. Hit-Boy had one of his biggest hits as a songwriter and producer on the song "Niggas in Paris," a collaboration between Kanye West and Jay-Z from their album "Watch the Throne." Highly acclaimed, it peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and won Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. In 2012, Hit-Boy released his first single as a recording artist, entitled "Jay-Z Interview," followed by his first full-length project as a recording artist, the mixtape "HITstory." He also co-produced Kendrick Lamar's album "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City," earning him a Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year. At the end of the year, Hit-Boy signed a solo recording contract with Interscope Records, of which his own label, Hits Since '87, became an imprint.
Hit-Boy had numerous successful projects as the 2010s went on. In 2013, he co-produced Beyoncé's acclaimed self-titled album, earning him another Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year. Among his work in 2014, Hit-Boy co-wrote and co-produced Drake's song "Trophies" and released his first studio album, "We the Plug," a collaboration with his collective HS87. He went on to co-produce Beyoncé's hit album "Lemonade" in 2016, the same year he collaborated with rapper Dom Kennedy on the EP "Half-a-Mil." Two sequel EPs followed in 2017: "Half-a-Mil-2" and "Half-a-Mil-3." Hit-Boy and Kennedy also collaborated on the studio album "Courtesy of Half-a-Mil" in late 2017. The following year, Hit-Boy released the mixtape "Tony Fontana" and was a songwriter and producer on Travis Scott's song "Sicko Mode," featuring Drake. "Sicko Mode" became both Scott's and Hit-Boy's first song to top the Billboard Hot 100; it went on to receive a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Song. Concluding the decade, Hit-Boy collaborated with SOB X RBE on the album "Family Not a Group" and with Jay Park on the EP "This Wasn't Supposed to Happen," and was featured alongside Roddy Ricch on Nipsey Hussle's song "Racks in the Middle." For the song, Hit-Boy shared the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.

Real Estate
From roughly 2015 to 2017, Hit-Boy was renting a home in Beverly Hills, California. At the time, the home was listed for $14,000 per month to rent. In a 2022 interview, Hit-Boy recalled how after making "dumb money" in 2012, by 2017, he was basically broke, living in this rented mansion, with no friends and no one at his management company (Roc Nation) returning his calls. Thankfully, he turned his career around, and in a 2023 Instagram post, he revealed he had actually gone back and PURCHASED that very same Beverly Hills home he was previously renting. Real estate records show he bought the 2,700-square-foot home, which sits on 1.5 acres, in September 2023 for $4.715 million.
