Denver Nuggets
In the 2018 NBA draft, Porter was chosen by the Denver Nuggets as the 14th overall pick. He had a bumpy start to his NBA career due to another back surgery that caused him to miss the entirety of the 2018-19 season. Porter finally made his debut for the Nuggets on Halloween in 2019, when he came off the bench to record 15 points and four rebounds in a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. He finished the regular season with averages of 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game as the Nuggets advanced to the playoffs. There, the team fell to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Conference Finals. In a late-season win over the Houston Rockets, he scored a career-high 39 points. Back in the playoffs, the Nuggets were routed by the Phoenix Suns in the Conference Semifinals. The Nuggets finished first in their division and conference and returned to the playoffs, where they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Lakers en route to the NBA Finals.
