After graduating from Jo Byrns High School in Cedar Hill, Tennessee, in 1983, Morgan attended the University of Tennessee. Leanne started making people laugh at an early age, and in a 2024 interview with Garden & Gun, she stated, "I was perceived as funny in my little high school, but I only graduated with forty-two people. I dazzled. I did. I get this from Lucille Fletcher, my mama—we get along with people. We have a ball everywhere we go."
Career
After having her first child, Morgan began selling jewelry. She spoke about motherhood and made jokes with clients while selling door-to-door, and they started booking comedy gigs for her. She released her first comedy special, "Leanne Morgan: All Daughters Are Mean," in 2020, and it had garnered more than five million views by 2023. Her 2023 Netflix special, "Leanne Morgan: I'm Every Woman," was listed in the streaming platform's top 10 comedy specials. In 2024, Leanne released the New York Times bestseller "What in the World?! A Southern Woman's Guide to Laughing at Life's Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings," which features "real talk about what it's like to be a woman today—from rebelling against the latest diet trends to dealing with perimenopausal mean girls and attending rock concerts in middle age."
In 2025, she co-starred with Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon in the Amazon Prime Video romantic comedy "You're Cordially Invited." Personal Life
Leanne was 21 years old the first time she married, but she ended the relationship because of her husband's abuse. She met Chuck Morgan when she was working at a restaurant while attending the University of Tennessee, and they married when she was 26. Leanne sold jewelry for a few years, then she and Chuck moved to Bean Station, Tennessee. There, Chuck owned a used mobile home business. The couple has welcomed son Charlie (born 1993) and daughters Maggie (born 1996) and Tess (born 1998) together. The Morgan family has also lived in San Antonio, Texas, and Knoxville, Tennessee.
In a 2025 interview with Yahoo's "Unapologetically" series, Leanne was asked about her decision to talk about menopause on her Netflix series. She responded, "When I went through perimenopause, I thought, 'What?!' I felt so bad. I really got into it because I did a podcast a long time ago about menopause with my nurse practitioner who did my hormones. I think I'm the only person who's ever talked about perimenopause in a Netflix special. Then I did something with Oprah on ABC about menopause health. It's something everybody's got to go through. It's crazy that nobody [talks about it] — it's part of women's health. I do think people are going to relate to that. I do think that people are going to want to see that experience through somebody on TV."
