Emma Stone Lists Newly Renovated Texas Mansion For $26 Million

Emma Stone is making real estate headlines deep in the heart of Texas.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the two-time Academy Award-winning actress just listed her freshly renovated estate in Austin for a jaw-dropping $26.5 million, placing it among the priciest homes currently on the market in the city. The listing caps off a multi-year passion project that saw Stone and her husband, comedy writer and producer Dave McCary, spend more than three years restoring one of the oldest homes in Austin's upscale Tarrytown neighborhood.

Stone and McCary purchased the Georgian-style estate in 2021 with plans to relocate their family to Texas. But with business booming in New York, where the couple co-founded the production company Fruit Tree, those plans changed. A spokesperson for the actress declined to comment, but their listing agent told The Wall Street Journal that the couple's growing commitments in Manhattan made the move no longer practical.

Because Texas is a nondisclosure state, the couple's exact purchase price is unknown, but it had been listed for around $8 million prior to their purchase.

The 1.25-acre estate is a stunner. Originally built around 1940, the roughly 10,000-square-foot compound includes a four-bedroom main house and a two-bedroom guesthouse. The property also features a pool, hot tub, and a detached garage topped with a state-of-the-art screening room and entertaining space.

The renovation was painstaking and detail-rich. Stone and McCary preserved the home's historic charm by removing, cleaning, and reusing every piece of original exterior brick. Inside, they reconfigured the layout to create a more modern flow, opening the kitchen to the living room and upgrading systems throughout, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and millwork. It reportedly took over a year to install the custom woodwork in the screening room alone!!!

FYI: I have a hunch that Emma and Dave were quietly looking to sell the property as early as mid-2024. That's notable because at that point, they were still deep in the middle of renovations. My suspicion is based on a video tour of the home that was uploaded to Vimeo in August 2024. I'll share the video below.

As you'll see, the pool is about half done. There are construction fences and dumpsters all around. There's no front step entryway. The interior is nowhere near completed…

Maybe Emma and Dave realized halfway through that this was more than they could handle? And it was better to cut and run? Who knows. However, if they get their asking price, it will probably have been worth the wait and effort:

Stone has a well-documented track record of profitable real estate flips. She sold a Malibu blufftop home in 2022 for $4.425 million after purchasing it for $3.25 million in 2018. In 2023, she offloaded her Century City home for $4.3 million, nearly doubling the $2.3 million she paid in 2019.

The couple still owns a reported $12 million apartment in Manhattan, where they operate Fruit Tree Productions, which has produced films like "When You Finish Saving the World" and the critically acclaimed "Poor Things," for which Stone earned her second Oscar.

If the Austin estate sells anywhere near asking, it will rank among the biggest residential deals in the city's history. And for Emma Stone, it would be yet another hit, this time far from the silver screen.
