What is Jarrod Schulz's Net Worth and Salary?
Jarrod Schulz is an American reality television star, entrepreneur, and professional storage hunter who has a net worth of $500 thousand.
Jarrod Schulz is best known for starring on A&E's hit series Storage Wars, where he rose to fame as the aggressive, risk-taking half of the fan-favorite duo "The Young Guns." Appearing alongside longtime partner Brandi Passante, Schulz became known for his instinct-driven bidding style, often taking big financial swings in hopes of uncovering valuable hidden items. His on-screen dynamic with Passante, who frequently challenged and criticized his impulsive decisions, became one of the show's central storylines and helped make them breakout stars. Beyond reality television, Schulz leveraged his visibility to promote his clothing brand, Outlaw Apparel, which became closely associated with his on-screen identity. Despite his early success, his career later became overshadowed by personal and legal issues, including a highly publicized split from Passante and a domestic violence incident that ultimately led to his departure from the series.
Early Life
Jarrod Schulz was born on October 15, 1977, in Long Beach, California. His early adulthood included significant legal trouble that would later become a key part of his backstory. In 1997, at age 19, Schulz was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and transporting narcotics. He pleaded guilty and served approximately 16 months in state prison.
After his release, Schulz struggled to find stable employment before eventually landing a job managing a carpet cleaning business in Tustin, California in the late 1990s. This role would prove pivotal, both professionally and personally.

Meeting Brandi Passante and Early Business Ventures
While working as a manager at the carpet cleaning company in 1999, Schulz hired Brandi Passante as a sales employee. Despite company policies prohibiting relationships between supervisors and subordinates, the two began dating and eventually built a life together. They had two children, Cameron and Payton, although they never legally married despite being portrayed as husband and wife on television.
Following the downturn of the housing and mortgage markets in the mid-2000s, Schulz found himself in need of a new income stream. Acting on a tip from a family member, he began attending storage auctions and reselling the contents for profit. He and Passante later opened a thrift shop called "Now and Then Second Hand Store" in Orange County, California. It was through this business that television producers first discovered them.
Storage Wars Fame and Business Interests
In 2010, Schulz was cast on "Storage Wars" as part of its original lineup. Branded as "The Young Gun," he quickly became known for his aggressive bidding style and willingness to take risks on uncertain lockers. His on-screen chemistry with Passante, particularly their frequent disagreements over spending and strategy, made them one of the most popular duos on the show.
During his time on the series, Schulz also promoted his clothing company, Outlaw Apparel, a biker-inspired brand he founded in 2002. He frequently wore the brand's merchandise on camera, effectively turning the show into a platform for marketing the business.
Storage Wars Salary
Thanks to a 2012 lawsuit filed by Jarrod's one-time "Storage Wars" co-star Dave Hester, we learned a lot of interesting details about the cast salaries and other controversial allegations.
The most salacious allegation in Hester's lawsuit directly involved Brandi Passante. Hester alleged that the Storage Wars' producers paid for Brandi to get a breast enhancement to… enhance… the show's sex appeal.
Furthermore, he alleged that 100% of the treasures found in the storage units were inauthentically "placed" or "salted" by the producers and that after the scenes are shot, the cast members were actually forced to give the items back to the producers rather than resell them as was often portrayed or implied.
Finally, Hester laid out the salary he and other cast members were set to receive. The typical Storage Wars single-season compensation was broken down as:
- $25,000 per episode with a guaranteed of 26 episodes, which works out to a minimum salary of $650 thousand per season
- $2,500 per month for travel expenses
- $124,500 expense account
- $25,000 signing bonus
In total, Hester reported that the average cast member earned a bit over $800,000 for a season. Presumably, that amount was split by Jarrod and Brandi.

Personal Life
Jarrod and Brandi met in 1999, when Passante was hired by the carpet-cleaning company that Schulz worked for. The couple has two children, Cameron (born in 2003) and Payton (born in 2005). Though Jarrod and Brandi were often referred to as husband and wife, they never officially married.
Although Schulz and Passante were presented as a stable couple on television, their relationship deteriorated behind the scenes. The two quietly separated in 2018 following the filming of Season 12 but kept the breakup private for several years to avoid disrupting their public image and business interests.
The split became public in 2021, coinciding with a highly publicized altercation between the two. In April of that year, Schulz reportedly confronted Passante at an Orange County bar, leading to a heated argument. During the incident, he allegedly shoved her multiple times. Police were called to the scene, and the Orange County District Attorney subsequently charged Schulz with one count of misdemeanor domestic violence battery.
The incident had immediate professional consequences. A&E launched an internal investigation and ultimately severed ties with Schulz, effectively ending his run on "Storage Wars."
