What Is Taeyeon's Net Worth?

Taeyeon is a South Korean singer and television personality who has a net worth of $8 million. Taeyeon got her start in 2007 as a member of the girl group Girls' Generation and then in the subgroup TTS and the ballad group SM the Ballad. Taeyeon has also recorded many songs for movies, television dramas, and commercial films. She has won numerous awards, including two Mnet Asian Music Awards for Best Female Artist, and she was ranked as the third most popular artist of 2015 by Gallup Korea. Her debut solo EP, "I," was released in 2015 and reached #1 on the US World chart and #2 in South Korea. Early Life

Taeyeon was born Kim Tae-yeon on March 9, 1989, in Jeonju, South Korea. She has two siblings, and her sister, Kim Hayeon, is also a singer. Taeyeon became interested in singing at an early age, and in middle school, she began taking vocal lessons from The One (Jeong Soon-won) at SM Academy in Seoul. In 2004, The One asked Taeyeon to perform on his song "You Bring Me Joy." That year she also won the SM Youth Best Competition and signed with SM Entertainment. She went through a brutal training process that almost made her quit, but she persevered and was chosen to be part of the girl group Girls' Generation in 2007. Taeyeon is a graduate of Jeonju Art High School, and she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the school in 2008.

Career

Girls' Generation released seven Korean studio albums and three Japanese studio albums between 2007 and 2022. The Korean albums "Oh!" (2010), "The Boys" (2011), "I Got a Boy" (2013), and "Lion Heart" (2015) topped the South Korean Albums chart, and "Holiday Night" (2017) and "Forever 1" (2022) reached #2 on that chart. Their debut Korean album, "Girls' Generation," peaked at #16 in South Korea. The group had #1 hits in South Korea with "Oh!," "Run Devil Run," "Hoot," "The Boys," "Dancing Queen," "I Got a Boy," "Mr.Mr.," and "Party." They released the Japanese studio albums "Girls' Generation" (2011), "Girls & Peace" (2012), and "Love & Peace" (2013). "Girls' Generation" and "Love & Peace" reached #1 on the Japanese Oricon Albums chart, and "Girls & Peace" peaked at #3 on that chart. The group had several top 10 hits on the Japanese Oricon Singles chart, with "Oh!" and "All My Love Is for You" reaching #1.

Taeyeon released her debut solo EP, "I," in 2015, and it reached #2 in South Korea and #1 on the US Billboard World Albums chart. Her 2016 follow-up, "Why," reached #1 in South Korea and #2 on the Billboard World Albums chart. The title track from "I" featured Verbal Jint, and it reached #1 on the South Korean Gaon Digital Chart. From "Why," the title track and the single "Starlight" (featuring Dean) were top 10 hits on the South Korean Gaon Digital Chart. Taeyeon has released the solo studio albums "My Voice" (2017), "Purpose" (2019), and "INVU" (2022). "My Voice" reached #1 on the South Korean Albums chart and #2 on the Billboard World Albums chart, while "Purpose" and "INVU" reached #2 on the South Korean Albums chart. The singles "Fine," "Four Seasons," and "INVU" were #1 hits on the South Korean Gaon Digital Chart. Taeyeon has also released two Japanese solo EPs, "Voice" (2019) and "#GirlsSpkOut" (2020), which both reached the top 10 on the Japanese Oricon Albums chart.

Philanthropy

In 2019, Taeyeon made a ₩100 million donation to the Korean Red Cross to support low-income women, teenagers, and children in North Jeolla. She also became a member of the Red Cross Honors Club. In 2023, she donated ₩100 million to the nonprofit organization the Stump Foundation for Youth, which is dedicated to "education and support for youth shelter residents, helping children and teens receive the welfare support they need and suicide prevention programs." The foundation used Taeyeon's donation for its first "Dream Site Project." In 2025, she made another ₩100 million donation to the Korean Red Cross, this time to help victims of the recent South Korea wildfires.

Awards

Taeyeon has won more than 50 awards as a solo artist, including seven Golden Disc Awards, six Seoul Music Awards, and five Circle Chart Music Awards. In 2025, she was honored with the Prime Minister's Commendation at Korea's Financial Day Ceremony. Girls' Generation has won over 120 awards, including 15 Golden Disc Awards, 12 Seoul Music Awards, 12 Melon Music Awards, and 10 Japan Gold Disc Awards. In 2011, the group received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards. Girls' Generation was ranked #1 on Billboard's 2017 list of the "10 Best K-Pop Girl Groups of the Past Decade," and they were featured on Us Weekly's "Best Girl Groups of All Time" list (2022) and Teen Vogue's "21 Best Girl Groups of All Time" list (2024).
