Early Life and Education

Kirk Triplett was born on March 29, 1962 in Moses Lake, Washington and was raised in Pullman. He attended Pullman High School, graduating in 1980, and went on to attend the University of Nevada, Reno on a golf scholarship. Triplett graduated with a degree in civil engineering.

Professional Career, 1985-2011

In 1985, Triplett turned professional. He went on to play on tours in Canada, Australia, and Asia, and won both the Alberta Open and the Fort McMurray Rotary Charity Classic in 1988. Triplett wasn't able to earn his PGA Tour card until the end of 1989. He didn't have a lot of success in the 1990s, but did win the 1991 California State Open and finished runner-up in the 1992 Houston Open and the 1995 Buick Invitational. Triplett won his first PGA Tour event in early 2000, at the Nissan Open. Also that year, he finished second in the John Deere Classic and reached his career-best ranking of number 25 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

In 2001, Triplett came in second in the Michelob Championship at Kingsmill, and recorded top-ten finishes at the Masters, US Open, and PGA Championship. His T6 finish at the Masters would be the best finish of his career in a major tournament. Triplett won his second PGA Tour event, the Reno-Tahoe Open, in 2003. The year after that, he recorded another T6 finish at the Masters. Triplett won his third and final PGA Tour event, the Chrysler Classic of Tucson, in early 2006. After finishing outside of the top 150 on the money list in 2009, Triplett lost his PGA Tour card and joined the Nationwide Tour. He went on to win the News Sentinel Open in 2011.

Triplett became eligible to play on the PGA Tour Champions in 2012. That July, he won his first Champions event, the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. Triplett won that event for a second consecutive year in 2013. In 2014, he claimed two event wins: the ACE Group Classic and the SAS Championship. Triplett's next win came at the American Family Insurance Championship in 2016. Two years later, with Paul Broadhurst, he won the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf at Big Cedar. In 2019, Triplett won his seventh and eighth Champions events: the Hoag Classic and the PURE Insurance Championship, respectively. A few years later, he came in second in the Principal Charity Classic.

US National Team

In 2000, Triplett played on the US national golf team at the Presidents Cup in Gainesville, Virginia. The team won the competition by a score of 21½ to 10½.
