CNBC anchor Mark Haines passed away late Tuesday at his home. Cause of death is still unknown but -- CNBC President Mark Hoffman released a statement earlier this morning saying,

"With his searing wit, profound insight and piercing interview style, he was a constant and trusted presence in business news for more than 20 years... From the dotcom bubble to the tragic events of 9/11 to the depths of the financial crisis, Mark was always the unflappable pro... Mark loved CNBC and we loved him back. He will be deeply missed."

Fox Business writer Mark Egan provides a look into the beginning of Mark Haines career Egan states:

"He cut his chops in journalism as a local reporter, serving as a news anchor in Philadelphia, New York and Providence before working at CNBC. Haines also had a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and was a member of the New Jersey State Bar."

The Wall Street Journal reports that when the news broke that Haines had passed the floor at NYSE was shocked and held a moment of silence in his honor. And floor legend Art Cashin had this to say

"He worked his way into this community very well. When the news popped out this morning it swept across the floor in a manner usually reserved for some large geopolitical event that moves markets. Everybody was riveted."

Finally, fellow CNBC anchors share kind words and memories of the late Haines...

"You know where Mark stood on all kinds of issues but it never seemed to get in way of his willingness to be fair and to even change his mind on the air if it was necessary. no, mark was not a man who suffered fools gladly, and a lot of people loved him for that and he got a lot of criticism for that. a lot of criticism for going after people who he felt were frankly fools and he never apologized for that."
