Phlippe Lourier is the French programmer who created the Annotated New York Times, an algorithm that indexes New York Times stories and related discussions. It was cool, but unauthorized. Lawyers at paper considered suing him, according to New York Times reporter Saul Hansell, but "cooler heads prevailed," he told me.Philippe and his Blogrunner company were acquired by The Times in 2005.
